Colorimeters / Photometers

Photometers are the all-rounders in water analysis. They measure the concentration of a substance based on the light that passes through a water sample. Colorimeters work in a similar way. At the pool, in wastewater treatment and drinking water control in the laboratory, in environmental analysis, for monitoring process water or for disinfectant control, there is almost no area of application in which photometers do not provide valuable services. Lovibond® has been developing and producing high-quality instrumental test systems for generations and is one of the most renowned manufacturers in water analysis. Whether mobile or as a regular part of the laboratory equipment: Lovibond® photometers are universally suitable for a wide range of measurement parameters and methods, from the practical Scuba II to the compact MD 200 and the COD set-ups. They are user-friendly and designed to meet the individual requirements of the user and the respective application. This ensures not only assured measurement results in accordance with the applicable regulations, but also precise values and tools for documentation and general quality control.

XD Spectrophotometers

The XD series instruments are ideal for routine and spectral analysis. As true all-rounders, the XD 7000 and XD 7500 facilitate work routines, especially with automatic method recognition using barcodes, automatic cell recognition and more than 170 pre-programmed methods. In addition to analytical quality control, they also support Good Labor Practice (GLP). The instruments are available together with bar-coded test tubes and a wide range of accessories from a single source – which is also easy on your wallet. High-quality reference beam optics, usability, easy handling and multilingual global applicability round off the versatility of the VIS and UV/VIS spectrophotometers, which are also equipped for flexible on-site use.

Turbidimeter

Tiny particles not only cloud the water, they can also cause damage to people and materials. That is why continuous monitoring of turbidity is essential, especially for drinking water, but also for industrial and process water. This calls for professional devices that meet the various standards and deliver reliable results. The light intensity is measured at 90° after the incident light beam has been scattered by the turbidity-causing particles in the water sample. However, sound know-how in turbidity measurement is also important. Lovibond® has the world’s most renowned experts in the parameter turbidity in its research and development team. Together we work on innovative solutions to the most pressing challenges in turbidity measurement. Discover our turbidity portfolio and the latest measurement technologies we have developed.

Reagents

Green Chemistry

For decades, the Tintometer® Group has been known as a producer of reagents for water analysis, which are supplied under the brand name Lovibond®. The wide range of applications requires different types of reagents. Also, users tend to have personal preferences as to which dosage system to use. Our broad product range covers blistered tablet reagents, powder reagents packed in aluminium foil and precise dosing liquid reagents in dropper bottles.

DPD Evo Formula

Lovibond® is a pioneer of the DPD method for quick and safe pool hygiene checks. We are also now one step ahead when it comes to your health. Our research and development has reacted faster than the rest of the market to possible health hazards of the ingredient potassium iodide and associated significant sales restrictions with the new Evo formula. Potassium iodide has recently been classified as hazardous to health by manufacturers. The European Chemicals Agency ECHA has reclassified the DPD ingredient accordingly. Many new regulations now apply when selling products with a high potassium iodide content. With our new Evo formula, we have found an alternative for all users who want relaxed tests for their pool water.

VARIO

The reagents of the VARIO system are specially adapted to ensure the reliability of results you are accustomed to from Lovibond® in other instrument systems as well – especially in Hach® measuring instruments. This also includes the Powder Pack range. The VARIO reagents are also available in other forms.

Tablet Reagents

The tablet form is the most popular indicator system worldwide because it is safe and easy to handle. But the tablet has many more advantages: it can be dosed precisely, has an enormously long shelf life and is also safe to use. A simple press of the finger is all it takes to release the tablet from the blister packaging and it can be added to the sample without direct contact. The aluminium protection also ensures that external influences cannot harm the tablet and its effectiveness. The shelf life of up to 10 years is thus the longest.

Powder Reagents

Reagent Tubes

No exact dosing and mixing, no contact with hazardous substances: Using cuvette tests is child’s play for everyone without exception. Simply add the sample liquid, insert the cuvette into the measuring device – and the water analysis can start, also automatically via barcode. The reagent causes a discolouration in the sample liquid, which is literally illuminated by the measuring device. This allows the concentration of the examined parameter to be determined.

Liquid Reagents

Reagents in liquid form are undoubtedly the fastest detection agents because they dissolve most quickly in the water sample and develop their chemical effect. They are usually used with several components in a measurement method and are added to the sample one after the other with a pipette. This requires dexterity, because both the size and the number of drops influence the colour complex that forms in the water sample. Therefore, the highest accuracy is required in dosing – and accuracy in counting the drops. The shelf life of liquids is limited: Temporary contact with the air when opening, sunlight, higher temperatures have a detrimental effect.

Test strips

Test strips offer quick, clean results without the fuss of reagents or tablets. Their dip and compare method makes them a popular choice for many applications where speed and simplicity are most important.

Standard solutions

Powder dispenser PD 250

Industrial Water Test Kits

Nothing works in industry without water. Raw water, make-up water, process water, boiler water, cooling water, water in open and closed systems: Everywhere, water drives the processes and is an essential component. But not all water is the same. It has very different qualities depending on its origin and region. The requirements for water quality also differ enormously depending on its intended use. This is why the control and treatment of industrial water is of crucial importance. Only those who keep an eye on the relevant parameters, observe prevention rules or legal requirements and initiate the right treatment measures are safe from problems. In the end, these can not only ruin the material, but also put entire plants out of action. In an emergency, people are at risk. We show here what is important in industrial water monitoring.
